The following is the Memoihl from the liesideiUf. of Queenstown, prepared by the committee appointed at the Public Meeting reported in our ivstieof the Gtli instant.

Sir,— We have the honor, on behalf of the inhabitant-, to submit to the consideration of your-elf and the U-.n-mimenr, the enebsjd memorial, aud to draw your attention to it. The Meuvn-ml of the Residents of Queenstown, omplainotJi, —

1 hat the (jom-mnent at the opening up of th: Wnk-Uipu an<l Arrow Gold l'iel.l?, through then ofliecre, led the pubic to believe tLat the main camp township should be formed here. That upon the stron<rth of these representations many parties have erected permanent buildings/ and laul out a larg-e amount of capital. That any conr&e tending to unsettle the minds of i-hose who are desirous of firmly settling themselves in one or other pi ice, is injurious, not only to the in-We-jts of the district, but to the general progress of the Province.

Thar wo believe the establishment of a third township within s-ven miles ot this and that of the Arrow is quite uncalled f r.

We, therefore, request on behalf of the residents and miners of this district, that the Government will be pleased to reconsider their course of action Tins we humbly pray. We have the honor to be, Your obedient servants, „ „ William Bruce, Honorary Secretary for Protection Committee, Quepnstown. Wnkntipu. Queenstown, 4th Felnuary, 1803.
