I HEREBY sfive notice tlut I am pvejnre 1 to receive applications for Lra^c^ ot l;md •. m sections not c.vceedinsr Ten (10) ru'ieb each, for agiicultui'al purposes, within the following aiva: — All thos" lands situated within the Minincr District* of Gabriel's and Waitahuna. being 1 a part of the Tuapeka pold field, formerly known as Runs Xo .33 nnd 54, and bounded on the North-west by the Tuapeka River, on tlu North and North-east by the boundary of Run No. 52. ou the Fast by the west branch of tlio Tokomairiro River, on the Sout'i-east by the boundary of the Tokomairiro Hundied, aud on the Southwest by the boundary of the Tunpeka gold-field. Leases will be grauted for a term not exceeding seven (7) years, in accordance wit'i the provisions of the Gold-fields Act, 1853-GO, and subject to the following Regulations. W. H. REGULATIONS.

1. Every Application for an agricultural lease must 1 c made (in the form of the Schedule hereunto annexed, or to the like effect) tluough the Warden of the District wherein the land is situate, and must be accompanied by a Depop 1 ' of Five pounds (£5) to cover the costs of survey. 2. The boundaries of the area applied for must be marked out on the ground by 1_ trenches, and substantial posts at each corner thereof.

3. Every such area mu.>i be rectangular in form, unless a creek or liver or other natural obstacle renders a deviation from the rectangalar form necessary. 4. As soon as possible after the receipt of any Application and Deposit as aforesaid, the Warden will instruct a Survryor to proceed to tlio grounl for the purpose of examining, surve^iny, and reporting upon the same.

5. Agricultural Leases will not be granted for lands within the boundaries of proclaimed townships or public reseives, nor for nny ;i'-ea including a permanent watercourse, or which may pre?ent auriferous mdi cations upon survey; and in all cases a public, roadway, one chain in width, will be leserved along the margins of streims and livers.

6. Agribultural Leases will ndt be transferable without tbe special sane ion and authority of the Commissioner of Crown Lands, and for every such transf.r a lie or fine of One Pound (£1) will be charged. 7. The Government reserves to itself the right to survey through aiiy land held under an auricul'-iral lease, such roads as may be deemed essential i ■:■ i,uh!ic conyenience, and to throw them open to public trainc, subject to tho allowance of valuation for improvements, and for any standing and growing crops which may be in or upon tuch line of road, at the period ■when possession thereof is taken by the Government. 8. The rent charged shall be at the rate of Five shillings (55. ) per acre, pay able ) early in advance, and any frAcii >nal part of an acre will be considered as an acre, and charged accordingly. 9. Tiie Government reserves to itself the ricrht of enteiing npn any land so leased as aforesaid, for the purpose of =enrehing for gold, or any other metal or mineral, and of determining any lease when such metah or niineials shall" have been discovered thereon. 10. In the event of the deteimination otany agricultural lease on acconnt of the highly aurifeious nature of the land thereby demised, the amount of comper sation adjudged to be paiel to the holderthereof, sliall (except iv special ease*) be contributed by the persons desirous, of mining thereon. 11. The fees charged for Survey wiil be as follows :—: — For any orJinary Survey, when the area does not exceed four (4) acres One Pound. For any larger area, at the rate of Five shillings per acre, or any poi tion of au sere. And Thirty shilli gs per clieni extra when the time occupied in such survey extends beyond one day. 12. Leases will be cancelled if the land is sublet or transferred without the sanction and authority of tbe Commissioner of Crown Lands ; or if culiivation is not commenced within three months after the issue of the lease ; or if at any time during the currency of the lease the land shall be neglected for a period of six months. SCHEDULE KEFERRED TO. No. (Place and date.) To the Wardens at I hereby apply for a lea s e of land for agricultural purposes, situate at (here state the locality) aud comprising acres, or thereabouts. And I deposit herewith the sum of Five pounds to cover the costs of Survey, and I agree to pay the further costs (if any) of such Survey, according to tbe scale prescribed by the Agricultural Leases Uegulations.
