HAWKE'S BAY MEETING CONCLUDES. FAVOURITES HAVE GOOD INNINGS. The Hawkc's Bay Jockey Club's ' autumn meeting was concluded on ' Saturday in brilliantly fine weather and there was a large attendance. The totalisator handled £18,015, as , compared with EU,<J9S 10s. For the , meeting the total was £29,513, as against £26,716, the increase being £2797. Lustral was favourite for the hurdles but Small Boy was in front all tho way and he easily held Lustral in the run home, winning even more easily than he did on Thursday. Eed Rufus was in second place for a mile but he was not going kindly. Parry made a fast run after half a mile but he went within a fraction of repeating his spectacular "buster" of Thursday. Lustral moved up to Small Boy half a mile from home but he was being asked for an effort at the bottom of the straight and his challenge was short-lived. The Ring, winner of the Poukawa maiden race on Thursday, was a shortpriced favourite for the Tomoana Electric and confidently ridden by B. 11. Morris, he dashed up to the leader a furlong from homo and he won well by a couple of lengths, Arabic getting up to cut Defray out of second money. Penny Farthing and Kalika were slow to begin, Defray making the early pace from Po Atarau, with the Ring and Arabic next. The Ring moved up on the turn and followed Defray into the straight, where she tackled the leader and ran home a decisive winner. Kalika, in line with Po Atarau, was fourth.

Price, Hastings.) First day form again worked out in the Twyford Handicap and Royal Spades again swept up to score narrowly in a blanket finish in which Mimicry, Quilp and Lucullus Boy also figured. Blonde Princess led into the straight closely attended by Ilaile Selassie, Quilp, Lucullus Boy, Screen Lord and Mimicry. Quilp had charge inside tho distance but Mimicry, Lucullus Boy and Royal Spades joined the issue a chain from the post and Royal Spades, Mimicry, Quilp and Lucullus Boy passed the judge at half head intervals. Siegmund was fairly well back when they turned for home but he finished well and he beat Hunting Cat and Coronation in an exciting finish. Coronation was last to leave the mark, the early leaders being Minnow and Pennyeomequlck, from Taitoru, Fossicker, Gran vale, Siegmund and Big Dook. Coronation was last as they turned into the back stretch but ha made a fast run and he was in front at the half mile, leading into the straight ahead of Minnow, Hunting Cat, Taitoru, Big Dook, Siegmund and Pennycomequick. Coronation still had the lead a furlong from home but he was under pressure and he failed to withstand the challenge by Siegmund and Hunting Cat, Siegmund winning by a neck from Hunting Cat, with Coronation half a neck further away. Big Dook was fourth, two lengths back, and next home were Gay Mimic, Fossicker and Granvale. In the Hawke's Bay Cup Siegmund, Coronation and Lady Furst were last to leave the mark. (Winner trained by owner, Hastings.) Red Witch continued tho winning sequence for favourites by scoring well from Opoho and Raana. She was in a handy place early and she took charge three furlongs from home, going on to win fairly comfortably. Hunting Mint was tho early pacemaker from Red Witch, Solicit and Raana. At the half-mile Red Witch joined Hunting Mint and then wont to the front to turn for home followed by Opoho, Raana, Hunting Mint, Harnarii. and Reay Bridge. Opoho issued a very good challenge but Red Witch responded under pressure and she won by a good length. Raana was a short length away third and Classical finished fast into fourth place. Next were Hamarin, Birkology, Reay Bridge and Hunting Mint. '

Then Black Thread came through with a good run and ho won decisively by a couple of lengths from Golden Blonde, who finished solidly to beat Buster Brown. Rakahanga was fourth and Solaria was next.
