DOCTORS STILL OPPOSE HEALTH SCHEME.
NOTHING SIGNED WITHOUT EXECUTIVE’S CONSENT DUNEDIN, March 2S. “No arrangement has been made with the Government, which is fully aware that members of the medical profession are practically all opposed to the scheme as it stands,” stated Dr. Newlands, in commenting on the official announcement that the Government’s discussions with the doctors had now reached tho stage of dealing with detail.-, indicating considerable modification of the previous opposition. Dr. Newlands emphasised that no working arrangements had been evolved yet, and only last week the national health committee of the British Medical Association had been instructed to sign nothing without the executive’s consent.
