RIKIORANGI-WAIKANAE BRANCH. The Eikiorangi-Waikanae Women’s Institute held their first annual dance in St. Luke’s Hall, Waikanae on Friday, June 30th. The hall was tastefully decorated with red and gold streamers and beautiful bush foliage. The Kikiorangi orchestra supplied the .music, which included many old-time dances which were much appreciated by the dancers. Mrs. G. A. Monk proved a most efficient M.C. Monte Carlo’ dances were won by Mr. and Mrs. Meyer and Mr. Clay and Miss Howes, A very dainty supper was supplied by the members of the Institute. Many visitors were present from out-lying districts, and a thoroughly enjoyable time was spent by all.

BRANCH . TOKMED AT IHAKARA.

A meeting of ladies was held in the lliakara Hall early last month to consider the question of forming a branch of the Women's Institute in that locality. Mrs Waring Taylor (Shannon) addressed the meeting, outlining the objects of the Institute and it was resolved to form a branch at lliakara, the meetings to take place on the first Saturday in each month, lire election of officers resulted as follows: President, -Mrs G. Armstrong; Secretary, Mrs A. Hustler; Committee, Mesdamoa Butt, Mitchell, Uensmann, A. Cottlo, Ward, Misses V. Cottle and N. McCombs, with power to add when membership exceeded twenty-five. At their second meeting held on Saturday last, members numbering 37 were welcomed by the President. Several others who were unable to attend signified their wish to join the new branch and with a membership of over 40 the success of the branch is assured The minutes of the previous meeting were read by the secretary nml adopted, after which Airs Waring Taylor complimented the branch on their large attendance. A unanimous vote of thanks was accorded Mrs Waring Taylor for her assistance in the formation of the Institute branch and a posy was presented her by Miss V, Cottle, on behalf of members. An im-. personating competition was thoroughly enjoyed by members, the judges being Mesdames Waring Taylor, Cotter, Goodban and Laing. The winners wore Mrs Cottle and Airs Hinckesman impersonating “Heoney and Tunney''; .Mrs Brooks, “Gandhi”; Miss Hal], “.Miss Muffin”; Mm Hall, “liobert Bruce,” Miss V. Cottle, “Mrs Pankhurst.” A competition for a gown was won by Airs A. Cottle. Afternoon tea was served and a happy afternoon was brought to a close by all singing the National Anthem.
