COMMITTEE MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Otak: State School Committee -.vas held on Monday night. Dr. Sfilnc presiding There were also present Mrs. Wailing-

ton, Messrs Kiddie. Ftirse. (.tear. Chatwin, Xicolson, Bwioli? (secretary) and Bishop (headmaster). Mr.- Reynolds stated that he Lad spoken to members o£ the local Horticultural Society relative to giving awards for school gardens and had been promised support.—Further arrangements left to Mr. Reynolds. From Agricultural Boys and Girls' Club giving particulars of competition. —Letter received, it being stated that

on a previous occasion an effort La>i been made to arouse interest hat it bad failed. '

A suggestion that the tennis court be enlarged was favourably considered and they will have necessary attention during the August holidays. It was suggested that an additional

shelter riied be erected and the presen one enlarged.—-Decided to make appli cation to the Board for a grant.

.Mr. Bishop reported that a cap, preseated by Mr. .J. W. Procter, had been, handed ever for competition and that it had been decided that it be competed for by the schools iu the lower end of the district. The etrp .had not been competed for for years, therefore had been handed over for the 1 schools. Mr. Bishop stated that it had been decided to hold a seven-aside tournament, on Saturday morning, 15th last, on the Ot&ki domain. A- vote of thanks ‘wa e accorded to Mr. Procter for donating the cap. It was reported that the honours boards would shortly be in position. Messrs Gear and dm twin were- appointed visiting committeemen for the month.
