Under line fpotball conditions, Otautau- managed to snatch a last mj^ufe victory over Nightcaps on the Recreation Ground on Saturday by 12 points to 9. Play was even, with both sides attempting to make it open, but dropped passes, knock-bns, arid' fauiry handling was in favour of Nightcaps until the last minute of the game. W. Dixdn goaled a penalty for "feet up" • in a scrum from well back and; 12 y_s ':M from the side line. A : penalty against j Reds- 10 minutes later gave Clapp a';/^ chance to equalise, -which was^accepted. The next score for Nightcaps, . was a very simple effort, N. Grant racing up on a centering kick and, when Pearson overran the Red winger, scooped it across and touched down, but Dixon failed, to goal from a handy position. Shortly after half time Buxtori made an opening for; Gpnley, who cut out Hope and sent ifarringtoit across after the latter: made a gooa run, brushing two tackjers off.
