NIGHTCAPS NOTES.

A meeting called last Wednesday evening to form a branch of the Women's Branch of the Fanner's Union and organise a Circuit for the free lectures and demonstrations which ..the Home Science Department of the Qtago University are giving. Unfortunately, through a combination of circumstances 'theret was a poor attendance. Mr& Ward, of Lumsden addressed the meeting, giving an outline of the Scheme. Heri remarks were supplemented by Mr and Mrs p. E.NNeiderer of Gorge Road. It uas decided to hold another meeting on- Tuesday (this) evening, wfte 1 *' it is hoped to liaye a more encouraging attendancf. Bachelors and Spinsters are holding a ball oh Friday evening. An enthusiastic committee have arrangements well in hand and everything promises well for the evening's success. Ratepayers are reminded that nominations for the Town Board election close on Saturday, 6th September.
