Successful Jersey Sale.
M.Bsra Wright, Stephenson .nd Co., Ltd., report having held,' m conjunction with Messrs Abraham and William*?, Ltd , a very successful sale of pedigree Jersey bulls and yearling heifers at the Palmerston North Showgrounds *on Thursday, 14th inst. The 'cattle, which were of exceptional qualitj, wece widely dis tributed. The offering comprised 40 yearling heifers and S6 bulls.. A speoial consignment came forward from the Horo whenua Jersey Cattle Breeders' Club, while the balance of the catalogue was made up of selected entries from Manawatu breeders. Waikato breeders operated freely, and secured good oattle, while many other outstanding animals were secured by buyers from North Auckland, Main Trunk, Wanganui, Hawkes Bay, Wairarapa, Noleon and Marlborough districts. Looal oorqpefcion was also keen. The top-priced heifer wa. secured for export to New South Wales, included m the offering was the cc-mplete crop of sixteen yearling heifers on apoquofc of Mr R. L* Horn, pf Ohau. These hi if era made the great average of £70 lfjs,. Q2 heifers ayeraged £43 lis, and 26. bulls realised an average price of £82 A show was held m coniunqtioti with the pale, the judge being the well k own Waikato breeder, Mr T. Churoh, Mr Churoh expressed. a very high opinion of the cattle which oame before him, and m tbe yearling heifer olass he 4_ad a very hard task to find the winners, the quality of the olass being ho even. In this class Mr B. L- Horn scoured first, second and third prizes. Mr B. Evans, O^au, was placed with a very nioe heifer. Mr J. I}. _4ungavin, uhau; provided the wjunor qf the two year old bull
olass, second prize went to Mrs Banks and Sons, Kiwitea, and third to Mr J. Mitchell, Loogburn. Thc yearling bull class was also a strong one, ani m feLis Mr Church placed a very classy son of Miss Ivy, c o.m. 727 lb fat at the head. This bull was owned by Mr J. Smith, jnnr., Bunny thorpe, Seoond prize was won by Mr Alan, Horn, Ohau, and third prize went to Mr U L. Horn, junr., Ohau. Th. Grand Championship for the besi anim;tl m the show was awarded to Mr J. Smith's first prize yearling bull Finvoy Golden ft'eble. • n being offered he was bought by Mrs B Donald, Westmere, for 107 guineas'
