Milk Without a Calf.

Mr J. lly Bond, a Minister of Agriculture (Efybin'd) expicrt, -relates the case ot a cross bred Friesian heifer which was found Lo have beon m milk for at least three months and had not yet had a calf or aborted.- The cau*-.. of being m milk was apparently the fact of h«r having been sucked by a strong calf that grazed m the same field as she occupied. On observing the calf sucking, the farmer foynd that the heifer was yielding normal milk. He therefore brought her m with the dairy herd. Wheu being.milked twice a day she yfelded over 301 bat the two milkiugs. When Mr Bond saw her recently she was bein_; milked only once a day m the hope of turning her dry, bufc her daily record was still about 151 b.
