The date of the anntJal A. and P. Show is drawing near, and the schedule of classes is now m the hands of breeders. The Executive have been busy, and have already, appointed their Judges, Marshalls, Stewards and other officials, while the grounds are m- excellent order after the improvements being effected last y«ar. Many classes Are available and a splendid number of special trophies and prizes made for different classes m all sections. In the Cattle Classes amateur classes are included, where the new breeders are given a chance to gain honours and experience, apart from competing against breeders of lengthy experience. The Southland Branch of the Milk ing Shorthorn Association has donated special prizes of £2 each for Bull and Heifer Yearling Classes. The Southland Branch of th« Ayrshire Association have given 4J3 3« for competition between bulls (any age) from tested dams. { The Southland Branch of the Friesian Association have given £3 for competition m the yearling classes for that breed. The Farmers' Dairy* Federation have donated £3 3s towards the Jersey section to be given to the yearling bull showing most promising type for butter fat. The £5 5s "tfews" Cup for best ! yearling heifer of approved purebred
dairy type is still to be competed for. The £3 3s trophy from the Waitaki Bairy Co. Ltd. for 2-year-old Crossbred Dairy Heifer is still running. The Wesney Shield and yearly medal for Champion Dairy Cow is another valuable trophy on the schedule. The " Strathvale " Cup valued at | £10 10s, presented by Jno. Macdonald Esq. has not yet been won .outright. The most points prize m Cattle Classes is a £5 5s trophy presented by the Otautau Standard. In the Sheep Classes the generous prizes fciveu by the Reginald Me Kinuon Trust are m evidence. The Ocean Beach Fieezing Com pany, Ltd., have given £3 3s m prizes for the Best Shearling Border Leicester Ram. The " Thomsou '' Cup valued, at £10 10s is to be competed for with most points m Sheep Classes, while the McKinuou Memorial Shield for the same section is competed for for the third time. In the Draught Horse Classes very good prizes are offered, while the "Isla Bank" Cup, presented by .D. Teviotdale, Esq., for Champion Yearling Filly is still on the schedule. The " Macdonald " Cup, valued at £10 10s, re presented by Mr li. Kennedy for best 2-year-old Stallion, enters its third year for competition. . Then there is a .£lO 10s cup presented by Mr Win. Kennedy for most points m the Light Horse Section. i The Competition Classes for Hunters, Jumpers, Lady Riders, Trotters and Boy and Girl Drivers have not been forgotten, liberal cash prizes being offered The Sbeep* Dog Driving Cdmpetion held m » paddock adjoining the parade ground is sure to attract attention, while m this Section a special class for "youths is included. , The Dairy Produce Section has been added to considerably, various kinds of cake classes being inserted. It is hoped that it will add interest to* this important department. . The ladies have undertaken the catering on Show Day, so visitors can be assured of a first-class lunoheon and afternoon tea service. They, also intend running a fruit, sweet and drink stall on the ground. .' The Progressive League have booked the Hall, and intend to run a dance on Show night to finish the day m real carnival style. Entries close with the Secretary, Mr G. H. Hodges, Box 92, on Tuesday, 23rd November, and it is hoped all farmers will enter liberally and help to make the 1926 Show a big success,
