Macdonald and Weston had .repaired' the footpath at the Memorial. A meeting had been galled by the. Hockey Club for the purpose of discussing ways and means of raising money for improvements to the Recreation Ground, but owing to counter attractions they could not get a muster. It had been arranged that tht meeting be held on Friday, 21st October. In connection wiih the Ohai mail the Ohai Railway Board, had taken over a contract from the Government for a daily service. The Secretary, Deacon's Court, Presbyterian Church, wrote tharikiug the League for the use nf Show material for their Fair. — Received. Johu Fisher, Cleric, Otautau Town Board, notified that the Board would l>e glad to consider offers to rent the unused section uf the Memorial site for grazing from year to year. — Received. The Clerk, Oiautau Town Board, also wrote stating that the' Board would 'be pleased to have the cooperation of the League m the tollectiou of hawker's licenses. — The Chairman was of t'he opinion that the League should, have a representative for the purpose of informing the Board when hawkers were trading m the township without a license. — It was left m the Chairman's hands to interview the County Council regarding the question of fees, etc , and report to next meeting. John Fisher, Otautau, wrote enclosing a letter from Mr J C. Calder, Port Molyneux, regarding the establishment of a deutist m Otautau. — Mr Calder intimated that he wished to start m Otautau as a dentist, and had the necessaiy instruments, but asked that he be financed to the exteut of £30 for the purchase of furniture, which he would be willing to give -as 'security. — It was resolved that Mr Calder bo written to, pointing out that there was'a good ©pening m tbe township if he liked to start, but thai the League could not assist bim as regards finance. The Chairman, Southland Provincial Court, New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition, asked that a rep representative be appointed to attend a meeting to be held m Invercargill. on Friday, 22nd October.— Received. - A. L. Hunt, Acting, President of the New Zealand Forestry League, wrote asking that the League - inaugurate a branch m Otautau dis trict. — Resolved that the Secretary . apply for further particulars. Jt was, decided that a dance be _.}d m the Town Hall on Show rijyght, the nett proceeds to be *%Inded over to the Wallace A. and P. Association. 'I'he questiqn of new scenery, lights, turtain, etc., for the Town Ifall was discussed, and it was resolved -to hr|pg the matter under tlie notice of the Jsoard. Jt was also decided to request the Town Board to provide a cpverpd-in fjust-part, it being considered that the. present method was detrimental to the shops m the township through tht ashes oeing scattered, especially on a windy day. It was resolved to write the Board requesting that the light m front of - the Hall be kept going as long as the ttreet lights, and Messrs Hodges, Sinclair and Moore were appointed * a deputation to wait on the Town Board regarding the necessity for extra lighting m the Main Street. — The Secretary was instructed to \vrite the Board requesting that a man be put ou to toll and cut the lawn -at the Memorial. Accounts amounting to 16s 5d were passed for payment.
