Obituary.

MR DANIEL LYNCH. In the passing away of Mr Daniel Lynch < on Friday last at tho ripe ago of 80 years, 1 Otautau loses a well-known figure and one of its earliest settlers. It is fully 40 years since the late Mr Lynoh made his homo m Otautau ; a blacksmith to trade, for many years he followed his calling, and has shod many of the beat- known horses of the Western district- Of a retiring disposition, he did not take part m any matters outside of his own affairs. As a typical Irishman he was always fond of a joke, and m his ..younger days was a fine strong specimen of manhood. He is survived by his widow and several grown-up sons, who havejthe sympathy of the community m their bereavement. The funeral, which L took place to the New Cemetery on Sunday, was very largely attended by mourners from every part of Wallace.
