Otautau Hack Racing Club.

Record nominations and a perfect day day tendered towards a successful race meeting to-day at Linton Park, Strathmore, under the auspices of the above club. Many Hack Clubs iv different local ties have closed down since the coming into force of the Gaming Bill which abolised betting at Hack Meetings, but the Otautau Club stuck manfully to their guns and m contempt of the detractors of the sport of kings raised their stakes to £100, and it gives ono pleasura to record a highly successful meeting, both from a financial and sporting point of view. At the commencement of the proceedings, a number of bookies on the course, where escorted off by the police. The gate was not as large as that received last year, but tliis ia more than counter- balanced by the largely increased membership, of over 100 The officials were hard-working and it would be invidious to particularise anyone for special mention. Mr A. Provan, of Heddon Bush repeated his laat yeai*'s performance m winning the Cup and the Fly with Queen's Prize, Mr J. P. Boyle being once again the successful pilot — a fine performance.
