WINTON STOCK SALE.
About 10,000 sheep were yarded at Winton on Thursday, a large proportion being aged and failing-mouthed ewes. A good attendance, and fairly brisk biddmg, nearly every pen being sold. Recent values were well maintained, a fair demand for ewes of all descriptions keeping up the tone of the sale. Ewes, two-tooths, from X3s to 15a 9d ; a line on account of Mr H. G Brasa brought 15s 6d ; a nice line of Mr John Woods', 330 two, four,
six, eight and shady mouths, realised 13s ; good sorts of aged ewes 5s to 9s ; other sorts and boilers from 2s to ss. Wethers, forward and well-grown sorts, 10s to lls 6d ; a nice line on account of Mr V. Laing, Dipton, realised lls 4d ; small 2-tootha from 7s to 9s 6d. Lambs, forward, 8s 6d to 10« ; ajfew good pens of fats 10s to Us 5d ; small good sorts, from 6s to 8s 6d ; culls from 4s 6d upwards. About 80 head of cattle were yarded, and met with a fair sale. Springing cows and heifers from £3 10s to . J2o, according to quality. Good sorts i of steers, two years, from £2 to. £3; three year olds, £4 ; old cows, £2 to £2 10a. Bams— About 60 were yarded, the entry being principally two-tooth. j Border Leicester, which met with • an excellent demand, many would-be I buyers going away unsupplied. All r decent sorts were quickly quitted, at \ from 2 guineas to 2£ guineas, inferior j sorts from 1^ guineas to If guineas.
