Otautau Gun Club.

The members of. the above club held -their opening match on .Wednesday last. The; weather was perfect, and everything passed off m a satisfactory manner. The members of the Invercargill Gun Club were also present by invitation, thus adding further interest to the proceedings. The scoring put up by some of; the 'sho'<sli§ts, consider, ing it was. their „-first, .-first -appearance-at thisjsport r .was very creditable-, -Messrs Lucas, Norton, Hutchison, Kelly, and Dr. Baird being particularly 'noticeable.

For the opening event a handicap sweepstake was arranged, for wb/oh there were 15 entries, the handicapped being Messrs J, Brey, Invercargill, and Hutchison, Otautau. The match was shot off m three rounds, and was, won by Mr McGavook, for whom Mr T. Double shot, the latter succeeding m getting the possible' out of 9 birds off the 20 yds. mark, Mr A. Kelly, called for three cheers for the visitors, who returned to Invercargill by the afternoon train, , Another sweepstake was then shot off between the local members. J.
