(Before Messrs W. Saunders and E. Matheson, J's.P). Friday, £Bth April. THEFT OF A STOOL. John R. Corkill was charged, on the information of Constable Joyce, with the theft of a wooden stool, of the value of 2i. The police having explained the circumstances of the case, accused pleaded guilty, and was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon, property meantime to be returned to owner. "WEDNESDAY, 3rd MAY. (Before W. G. Riddell, Esq., S.M). CIVIL CASES. 'lhe following cases were dealt with : — Dr. N. G, Trotter, Riverton, sued Thomas Thomas, Yellow Bluff, for £Q 65 Od. balance of account for professional services. — Judgment lor amount claimed, less £8 paid on account, with costs of court 10s. Mrs. H. Evans v. Duncan Cameron, claim, £12 — Mrs Evans conducted her own case, and Mr Hunter appeared for Cameron. — The claim was foi ploughing 60 acres of land and supply of chaff. Defendant counterclaimed £9 0s 8d for cartage ol grass seed and furniture. Judgment for plaintiff for full amount claimed less counter-claim, £1 2s Od costs of court. E. Prendergast proceeded on a judgment summons against John Gallabue for £14 8s sd. Mr Hunter appeared for plaintiff, and there was no appearance of defendant and no reason torthcoming for non-appear-ance. — Amount ordered to be paid on or before 17th May, m default 10 days' imprisonment m Invercargill gaol with hard labor.
