WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

ANNUAL MEETING OFFICERS ELECTED There was a large attendance of members at the Annual meeting, the President, Mrs. R. Tlughsou welcomed Mrs- Knuckey and Mrs. Joyce from the Federation, who were presented with floral sprays by Mrs. Shields. The motto wasj, “A difficulty can lie found in every opportunity, but the gallant heart finds an opportunity in every difficulty.” Mrs. Poole and Mrs. Dew were appointed delegates to the Annual Federation meeting at HaweraOne new member was welcomed hv the President. A. letter of grateful thinks was read from our Scottish Link for food parcels received at Xmas time. Mrs. Hughson introduced Mrs? Knnckey who presided over theAnnual meeting. Mrs. Kimokey congratulated the Institute on its annual report which showed another successful year of activities. In her talk on Institute affairs, Mrs. Knnckey mentioned that the best way to do things is to learn for yourself and to put in what you take out and above all he loyal and help ones Institute in any, way. The speaker was accorded a vote pf thanks by Mrs. Tfughson. Officers elected for the ensunur year: — President: Mrs. R. H. Hughson . Secretary: Mrs. N. Moir. Treasurer: Mrs. E. W. Dew. Points prizes were won 1 y Mrs. Maindonald and MrsTin Hi son. Competition results : Bloom : Mrs. Sinclair Ist., Mrs. Hammond 2nd., Mrs. Harding 3rd. Cup: Mrs. Gadshy Ist-, Mrs. Hughson 2nd. In the Annual Report a vote of thanks was accorded the Judges, Demonstrators, tire'Auditor. Mr. Hughson, the Press for publishing report's. Hostesses and all who had helped to make the year’s work a success.

The meeting closed with the singing of (jiod' Defend New Zealand.
