BOARD MEETING RE-INSPECTION DISCT SSIO N The full Board attended Cm meeting of the Opunake ElectricPower Board on Friday. Mr. T. S. Hickey presiding. The conversion loan (10 4 <S) £B9OO and the Housing loan. No. 2 (1948) £3OOO were bo'h confirmed. One objection was received in the latter case. Accounts totalling £2182-8-8 were passed for payment. Following his report the engineer disclosed that the allocation was exceeded 'by approximately 5 per cent, and both the Chairman and Mr. Mira ms emphasised the need for strict economy to avoid power cuts. Another matter arising out of the report was in connection with Daily Company electrical equipment, the engineer on request, advising that the Dairy Companies were entirely responsible for the maintenance of the factory electrical equipment, the hoard being required by law to reinspect every 8 years. He would prefer a five-year cycle or even less, provided the Board’s interests were safeguarded and would not be expected to assume the Daily Company’s liabilitiesIn the general discussion, members endeavoured to formulate a scheme of benefit to the Companies, it being agreed that a shorter period than 8 years for reinspections should be considered provided other reinspection work was well up-to-date. The Chairman and Mr. W. C. Green favoured printed notices of inspection and reinspection dates sent to the Dairy Company s and Mr. R. Cassie favoured reinspections annually. It was finally decided to bring down a report for consideration at the next meeting.
