ENGINEER’S REPORT ROAD MAINTENANCE The County Engineer, Mr. 7 *. S. Martin, leported for February as follows: Construction Raliotu, Kalini: The reconstruction and sealing- of a further one mile of this highway has been completed and the sealed length now reaches to just beyond the Kahui Factor} - , leaving some 1-1/3 miles to complete the full length. Highways Maintenance Opuuake, Rawhitiroa : Banking along sealed edges attended to, watertables and outlets cleaned. All bridges cleaned up around approaches, guard fences repaired and superstructures painted and-or white washed. Sheet Road: Watertables and outlets cleaned, banking attended to, Ouri Bridge cleaned and painted. One mile 71 chains from the Main South Road to the Ouri Biidge has been resurfaced.. A good riding .surface has been obtained. Ihaia Road: Metal length graded, watertables and outlets cleaned, verges mowed. Raliotu, Kahui: Metal length graded, crushed metal run out over several lengths. Cold patching along the sealed length attended to, watertables and outlets cleaned, berms mowed. Riding Maintenance The usual maintenance work was carried out on roads in .ill ridings, metal being run out over a number of lengths. Plant Plant lias worked full time during the period and sundry minor repairs have been carried out at the depot during the period. No serious hrakedowns have occurred and alb plant has been properly and regularly serviced.
