REFEREES GATHER
AM?!UAL MEETING RECORD MEMBERSHIP An enthusiastic; annual meeting of the Western Division referees association was held in St. Patrick’s Hall on Tuesday evening, hr. H. V. White presiding over a good attendance cd memhers. It was reported that the active niembersliip this year would he the largest for many seasons The president in his report said that the last season was i living one, owing to some friction among the divisions regaid-no-'lhe appointment of referees hut he felt that greater harmony would be enjoyed this coming season. The benzine question was another problem. The allocation was insufficient and had n net been for members’ personal sacrifices referees could not have carried out their duties as they did- Difficulty in collecting referees travelling expenses from some clubs was experienced, end should he brought before their notice again. Mr. White favoured the exchange of referees and urged the association to press for it. There is a very satisfactory credit balance and I would like to convey our thanks to the coastal dubs whose donations brought about this satisfactory position. I would like to see more ox-players join our division, as there is great need for more referees lie said. Thanks was extended to the members of the St. John Ambulance division who never failed to attend Hie matches and to members- for assistance and support and particularly that accorded him as president during his term of office. Mr. While concluded by wishing all a very successful season. The balance sheet showed a credit baumc-e of £lO-7-0. Election of Officers Officers elected were: Chairman : Mr. ID V. White. Vice-President : Mr. S. Aim. Secretary: Mr. E. McCann. Appointment Board; Messrs. White and B. B. Bowman Delegates to Taranaki Rugby Onion: Messrs- White and McCn nn. Delegates Coastal Division. Messrs. Howman and White. Auditor; Mr. Bowman. Three new members were welcomed. A general discussion on the decision of the Taranaki Rugby T T nion tn appoint 3 members as a referees appointment hoard to allocate referees for representative fixtures and major Taranaki matches such as division play offs etc., followed, and matters concerning rules were also discussed.
