SCHOOL COMMITTEE

RECUE OF PUPILS BEACH INCIDENT The Opunake school committee met on Mondal evening, Mr. H. E- Collins presiding. Messrs. Young and Smith ■were absent The committee, following the headmaster’s report, concerning the rescue of high school pupils who got into difficulties during a strong undertow at (he beach recently, resolved that an independent committee be set up to investigate the matter of making recommendation to (he Royal Humane Society for recognition of pupils taking part in the rescue work.

It was further decided that a letter he sent to the school commending the action of pupils in assisting the rescue and that an amount of £2-2-0 be donated lo the Opunake Surf Club, as an appreciation of their training, cf boys in life-saving.
