TE KIRI’S GOOD WIN
FAST, OPEN GAME
Tire western division final, between Te Kiri and Opunake A, played at Kaponga on Saturday, again produced excellent hockey, played at a fast pace, and although there was again little between the two teams, Te Kiri settled down more quickly than in the past two games, to take the initiative in scoring the first two goals. Opunake did its best to reduce the lead and although there efforts were rewarded by goal, Te Kiri’s strong defence held and a fine game, played before a good following of spectators, ended with the score Te Kiri 2, Opunake A 1.
Te Kiri will play-off in the semi-final next Saturday at Opunake, and it is to he hoped that a large crowd of district sportsmen will attend to give the team full encouragement. Messrs, J. Lines and C. Blair, were umpires
