TO BE PROSECUTED
STRAY CATTLE OWNERS COUNTY'S DECISION Once again the stray cattle nuisance in the county was the subject of a discussion as a result of several complaints. Councillors at Tuesday's meeting of the Egmont County Council stressed the danger to traffic, one or two specific cases where accidents had occurred at night being mentioned. Wandering stock, sometimes in big' herds and obviously deliberately turned on to the roads, had presented a serious problem in ■the county for some time and in spite of repeated warnings, amply notified through the press, little effort had been made by farmers concerned to cease the practise, it was alleged, and councillors agreed that the time for firm action was at hand.
People seemed to take no notice of the advertisements published bv the council in the Press, said Mr. S. Farqukar, in moving that, the Engineer be instructed to prosecute offenders without warning.
"We have given plenty of warnings," remarked Mr. G. M. Sayed, who supported the motion. "If people don't take notice we must be toxigh." The motion was carried unanimously.
