MATCH AT TAUMARUNUI DRAW 6 ALL The Opunake seniors once again retained the Pennington Cup, although Taumaranui went close to winning, on this occasion the game being- "drawn 6-all. The trip was thoroughly enjoyed by the team and supporters, who expressed keen appreciation of the hospitality extended to them by Taumarunui officials and supporters. The game was fast and interesting but combination was understandably lacking on both sides, although several promising movements were witnessed, particularly the one which resulted in D. Humphries scoring. The ball travelled to one wing and then back to the other before he forced down. Opunake on the day gave a more polished display, and with solid coaching and a game or two, should prove a strong combination in the competition series. W. Humphries played a safe game, and the wing three-quart-ers, Riley (until he was replaced at half-time) and Hickey. also played well. The speed and deftness of Elgar the half-back was of great value to his team, while Gage and C. and J". Dudley were solid in the pack. The scorers were: Opunake, Hickey, D. Humphries (try). Taumarunui. Borck (penalty), Holden (try). The teams were: Opunake : W, Humphries; Riley, Vincent, K. Hickey; D. Humphries, McCandTish; Elgar; J. Dudley; Gage, C.
