CLUB NOTES (By “Crossbar”) The following- team is taking part in the West Coast (N. 1.) Championships at Cook’s Gardens, Wanganui on Saturday next: Juniors: J. Shields —100yds., discus, javelin, long jump, hop, step and jump, shot put, pole vault. Seniors: H. Shields —hop, step and jump, long jump, shot put. W. Humphries —220yds. a nd 440yds. F. S. Barraclough—pole vault. Although the competition will be stronger, J. Shields is expected to collect six or seven titles. H. Shields will he defending his long jump title. With just a little more luck than he had on Saturday he is expected to do this successfully. W. Humphries may concentrate on the 440yds. The time he registered last Saturday was good and if he can repeat this, he has an excellent chance of bringing home a West Coast title. F. S. Barraclough is suffering from an injury and may not be able to defend his West Coast (N. 1.) title. EVENING SPORTS CHILDREN KEEN Interesting running and field events were witnessed at the recreation ground on Wednesday evening, especially among the children who are showing increasing keeness. Although fewer senior competitors took part than is usual, all events were closely contested. Results were: Senior Men’s 75yds,; D. Vincent 1, M. Hickey 2, W-. Humphries 3. Senior Men’s 220yds.: C. Cavaney 2, J. Nicoll 3. Senior Boys 220yds.: P. Moron 1, R. Hume 2, G. Cavaney 3. Junior Boys 75yds.: R. Cavaney 1, G. Aitken 2, B. Alvis 3. Junior Boys 220yds,: L. Drought 1, B. Aitken 2, G.
