OAONUI W.D.F.F.
FIRST BIRTHDAY ENJOYABLE FUNCTION Visitors from the Awatuna, Opunake and Rahotu branches of the W.D.F.F. were present at the first birthday of the Oaouui W.D.F.F. branch held in the Oaouui hall last Thursday. Mrs. H. White extended a Welcome to the visitors. An excellent programme of items and competitions was enjoyed. The winners of competitions were: Mrs. R. Hughson, Opunake and Mrs. Lowry, Rahotu; a Mus-' ical Quiz presented by Miss A. Baylis was won by Mrs. J. Clarke. Those contributing items were Mrs. L,- Young, piano solo ; Mesdames R. Baylis and G. Pentelow, songs; elocution items, Mrs, C. Malcolm, Opunake. A humorour Play-reading entitled “Mechanical Jane” given by three Opunake ladies, Mesdames R, Hughson, Dew and Malcolm, was very much appreciated. After afternoon tea, best wishes were extended from the visiting branches. In returning thanks the president, Mrs. White explained that instead of the usual Birthday Cake, members had unanimously voted that the money be put into food parcels for Great Britain. The Hall had been tastefully decorated with boughs of apple blossom and many lovely Springflowers by Mesdames M. Gibson, J. Stronge and F. Tilley.
