WEDDING BELLS

McCArtTHY—BOYD The wedding took place at St. Andrew's Church, Opunake, on, May 17th., of Ellen Gilmore (Betty) eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Boyd, Opunake, to Ralph Maxwell, 'only son of ■Mr. and Mrs. P. J. McCarthy, Heme Bay, Auckland. The Rev, W. J. Berry officiated and Mr. W. Markham was organist. At the reception Mrs. D. Trotter sang "I'll Walk Beside You," The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a gown of deep cream pearl satin, with a heart-shaped neckline and full bishop sleeves with lace insets from shoulder to wrist. The bodice was fitting and had lace insets, and the neckline was edged with narrow net frilling, The back was cut with a low and fitting waistline and fastened with tiny satin buttons. The full gathered skirt fell to form a long" train with lac.e insets and edging of net frilling. Her embroidered tulle veil fell from a spray of velvet flowers. She carried a bouquet of deep cream chrysanthemums, phillipine lilies, asparagus and maidenhair fern. As the couple left the church, the bride was presented with a silver horseshoe, by little Lois Barraclough. The bridesmaids, Misses Kathleen and Colleen Boyd, sisj ter of the bride, wore full skirted frocks of pale blue. The bodice of small patterned silk lace, was fitting at the waist, and the full skirts were, of blue net. . They carried bouquets of gold chrysanthemums, ch'inese lanterns, autumn tinted leaves and maidenhair fern. The best man was Mr. F. Curry of Wellington and the groomsman, Mr. R. Goddard, also of Wellington. Messrs. R. Cor kill and D. Campbell were ushers. The bride's mother, wore a tailored suit of herringbone tweed in blue tonings, with a royal blue blouse, and black accessories. Jhe bridegroom's mother wore a vieux rose ensemble with black accessories. For travelling the bride wore a three piece suit of mulberry tan with blue blouse and hat and nigger brown accessories. Mr. and Mrs. McCarthy are now living in Auckland.
