MISS BETTY BYARS -OPUNAKE GATHERING i . — VT A very enjoyable evening was held at the' home of Mr. . and Mrs. D. McCrone, on Saturday, 26th of July, to celebrate the coming of age of ;Miss Betty youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs.- J. Byars, New Plymouth. Over forty friends and relatives gathered to wish the guest of honour a happy birthday, many beautiful presents being received bv her. Competitions,' games and items occupied the evening and an excellent sit-down supper was enjoyed, followed by a short toast list. A handsome birthday cake, made by Mrs. McCrone and decorated by Mrs., F. Sisley", held pride of place on the table. A large wooden "key" was presented to Miss Byars and was autographed by those present. Mr. J. Clouston, Hawera, officiated as toast-master, the following toasts being honoured: The King. The Guest of Honour—Mr. J. Clouston; Mr. and Mrs. Byars—Mr. Richards; Mr. and Mrs. D. F. Sisley. > \ Congratulations. were extended to Mrs. Byars who also celebrated her birthday along with her daughter.
