"INSANITY FAIR"

GAY FUNCTION LXCELLENT PROGRAMME Patrons at the "Insanity Fair" Dance held in the Drill Hall on Monday evening were in no way disappointed with the humorous and novel programme arranged, a spirit of gaiety and merry-mak-ing prevailing throughout .the evening, and the large crowd of dancers readily co-operated with the M.'sC, making the occasion one of the happiest held in Opunake for some time. Although disappointing in numhers the costumes worn were excellent and fully in keeping with the name of the dance. A buxom hairy-legged "fairy" was to be seen tripping daintily? around the hall, and there were two old "witches" who may have gained a prize had they been able to tolerate " the happy atmosphere a little longer, while bi« "little girls" and "nutty guys" with a trio of scared "Jap happy" servicemen were also present. A burlesque fox trot created much amusement, the winners being Mr. and Mrs. G. Jackson and a novel "Quiz" monte carlo, also popularly received, was won by Mr. J. Feaver and Mrs. R. Rogers. Prize-winners for humorous costumes were: Best Couple, Mr. J. Bevan and "Miss Y. McGuckin; most humorous, gent, Mr. J. Alger; lady, Mr. H. Shield. Appreciated, solos were also rendered during the evening by the Opunake Princess, Miss Velma Hickey and Miss McNeil. Fennell's orchestra provided lively dance music which was greatly appreciated and a dainty supper served by the ladies of the carnival committee also added to the success of the evening. Dancing continued until 1 p.m. Messrs. R. Riley and P. Ranford made, very capable M.'sC.
