FARMERS FINED
WANDERING STOCK COUNTY COUNCIL'S ACTION As a result of the Egmont County Council's recent decision t: prosecute a vigorous campaign to rid the county roads of the danger of wandering stock, two Rahotu farmers, . Walter E. Windelene and Claude A r G. Hopkins were convicted and fined £1 (costs 22/6) and £2 (costs 22/6) respectively at the Opunake Courthouse last week. Messrs. G. C. Clouston and J. S. Hickey, J's.P. occupied the bench. The charges were preferred by the County Inspector Mr. F. J. Tilley and Mr. A. D. L. MacLean represented the Egmont County Council. The defendants did not appear. The stock .in question were found wandering on the Kahui Road. Civil Case One civil case was also dealt with and judgment for plaintiff hv default was given as follows : Kleeman and Bishop v. John G. Catlev, £2-9-2, ( costs 18/-).
