ATHLETIC SPORTS EVENTS
GOOD FIELDS LIKELY
With the active co-operatu
of shopkeepers in observing early closing hours, the Opunake Amateur Athletic Club has every prospect of success for its special sports meeting to be held in the Domain tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon. Events for pupils of the Opunake District High School are a feature of the programme, which includes a number of competitions in which entry is open to all. It is not yet known whether the projected
! duel between two well-known local dignitaries will become a fact, but, should this be included, it will be a highlight of the whole fitness campaign. In order to provide for those purtils who return home by bus services, events for secondary department scholars, will commence at 3 p.m., and the main portion of the programme will not be xtnder way before 4 o'clock. Track contests are in
the but field events also are included.
! The programme is as follows: 100 vds. High School boys; 100 vds. High School girls; 100 yds. Basketball Club gjrls: boys' relav 3 x 100yds.; girls' relay 3 x 100 vds.; boys' broad jump; 75 vds. High School girls; 220 yds. Hiirh School bovs; 100 yds. men Hio-h Schood boys: 100 yds. men (open): trades relay, 4 x 110 vds.: men's hop-step-and-jump: boys' slow cycle race 75 yds. : bovs' 440 vds. walk: men's relay 4xllo vds.; men's 880 yds.: junior 100 yds. (Athletic Club members).
