Four batsmen and “Mister Extras” contributed to Opunake’s lowest score of the season, recorded in the contest with Okaiawa at the school grounds on Saturday, when the local eleven had a short, sad session at the wicket for a total of 16 runs. The “up-and-coming” Okaiawa team replied with 48. and produced 27 runs for two wickets in the second strike to better Opunake’s aggregate of 66.

Soreson alone of the first six bats fqr Opunake opened his account, Cave being top score with 6 Penny had a wonderful day as bowler, taking eight wickets for 7 runs off six overs, and Skipper had his only success with his first ball.

Despite early successes, Dobbin and Donnelly were unable to check Skipper’s, rapid advance towards a good score, and Cave finally tqok his wicket when he had added 27 runs to the total. No other batsman reached double figures, hut the innings was worth 48 runs. Donnelly took five wickets for 18 runs. With the opening hats dismissed without scoring, Opm rake’s imp was full, hut Donnelly restored a measure of confidence with a determined stand of 87, including four sixes recorded with successive scoring strokes. The half-century was just up at the close of the innings. Again it was Penny who caused the damage, hij average being six for 28. lleqniring only 19 runs for an outright win, the visitors almost had that number with the opening partnership, Preeee and Skipper contributing to their third successive win.
