ASSISTANCE OF SCHOOL LADY HELPERS MEET

Following the practice which has been adopted at other centres, an enthusiastic meeting of ladies at St. Barnabas’ Hall vesterday decided upon the formation of a welfare association, whose chief object will be the raising of funds for the assist a nee of the Opunahe Distric High School. The chairman o the school committee, Rev. G Wood, presided, and members o: the committee present were Rev •T H. Datson and Rev. .1. H Bailev. Ladies present were Mesdames W. A. Laing, A. McKenzie, Norris. Maindnmdd, H. P. Mann, P. H. Humphries. G. Wood. T. H. Bailey, Sorenson. D. Trotter, Neumann.- Bowman, Shields. A. Mathie. W. H. Richards. A oologies for absence were r«ceived from Ales dames R. H. Hughson, W. Chambers and J. H. Datson. The headmaster. Mr. O. W. Williams, also was present. and the following members uf the teaching staff attended : hisses Fugle. Me,Sherry, Hutchinson and Richards. Referring to the purpose of the meeting, Mr. Wood stated that the considerable growth in the size of the school had made it necessary foi the committee to consider the appointment of a
