GIFTS TO BRITISH MUSEUM Formed just over a year ago, the Friends of the National Libraries, an organisation to assist galleries and museums in securing national collections of books and manuscripts, issued their first report recently in London. The most interesting and important disclosure in the report is that the whole of the £ISOO needed to secure the Goldsmith and Harvey manuscripts for the Bri? tish museum has been paid. More than 100 volumes of printed works (apart from duplicates and old sale catalogues) have been distributed in the course of the year through the society to various institutions.
