THE WENDEL MILLIONS The Wendel fortune, which about 100 people are seeking to share in the belief that it exceeds £20,000,000 , will probably not rcrevcal one-third of that amount, it 'was revealed in New York when the tax appraisers reported that the estate of Mrs Rebecca W. Swope, next to the last direct heir to the fortune, left gross estate of about £3,500,000 and net estate of about £3,340,000. The bulk of this went to Ella V. Wendel, the last of the direct descendants of the founder of the fortune, which was built up through unwillingness to sell New York realty wherein the family funds were invested.
