OAONUI.
(own correspondent.) On August 10th the Oaonui Publio School was by W. E. Spencer, Esq., M.A., B.Sc, and the following is a summary of report the School Committee on Mouday evening last:— Inspector's Remarks: I was very pleased indeed with the uniform intelligence of the work throughout. All the pupils are entitled to promotion, and some bad been promoted, and had done well, though the lower standard had not been passed." Certificates of proficiency were obtained by the three pupils of Standard VI. Reading and Recitation: Very intelligent ; composition and arithmetic, good ; spelling, nature study, botany, and handwork, very good ; drawing, very good; model drawing, particularly so; writing and singing, very good progress ; physical instruction, excellent; geography, very satisfactory. Instruction of Class Primer, very good. The discipline was very good and it was really a pleasure to examine the pupils, they were bo attentive, willing, and earnest. The efficiency of the school is very good indeed. LIST OF PROMOTIONS. Standard I : James Hopkins, Arthur O'Sullivan, Rosa Cook, Emily Gilmer, Ellen Glentworth, Dorothy Luek, Ellen O'Rorke, Alma Pentelow, Vida Wilson. Standard II: Allan Lusk, Corey O'Sullivan, Arthur Pentelow, Cecil Wilson, Leonard Young, Emily Cook, Eileen Fleming, Margaret Fleming, Agnes Gilmer, Mary O'Sullivan. Standard III: Aitken Lusk, Dan O'Sullivan, James Parsons, Fred Young, Annie Cook, Susan Glentworth, Alice Hopkins, Grace Hopkins, Bridget O'Rorke and Nora O'Rorke. Standard IV : Harry Cool:, Arthur Harrison, Claude Harrison, Grace Lusk, Grace Pentelow, Ivy Potter and Nera White. Standard V : Lewis Parsons, Mary Fleming, Hilda Harrison, Margaret O'Rorke. Standard VI: John Cook, James Glentwortb, Ernest Wilson. All these pupils obtained certificates of proficiency ; Wilson, particularly, deserves great praise, as he failed to pass the Standard V examination the previous year. Standard VII: Wm. Pentelow, examined with Standard VI.
