New Buildings.
The shop and residence for Mr Wallis, boot and shoemaker, just completed by Messrs Ross and Sims, builders, is a very handsome addition to the business portion of the town. The design is by Mr J. J. Ross, architect, and reflects credit on his skill. The premises have a frontage of 32 feet to the main street. On the eastern corner is the shop, which is 15 feet by 13 feet, with a» nice show window. In the centre is a doorway leading into a spacious hall, 32 feet long by 5 feet wide. On the left of the hall is a room 15 feet by 13 feet, lighted by a double muilion window. Rebind this is another large room 16 feet by 13 feet, and a room of similar size on the opposite ride of the passage. Between the sitting-room and dining-room there is a double concrete chimney. All the rooms are lofty, having 12 feet studs. Since Mr Wadis has started in business in Opunake he has, by sterling workmanship, gained a good solid trade, and will no doubt in the future maintain the same standard of excellence.
