The Opunake Times. TUESDAY, JANUARY 18, 1898.

Lost rug is advertised for. A general servant wanted. Mr W. D. Scott notifies entries for his next Opunake stock sale. An impounding notice Appears in another column, Mr Adlam, member of the Education Board, will visit the Opunake School on next Monday when the school re-opens, to report on works asked for by the School Committee. The Review of Reviews for December speaks of Mr Scddon being likely to replace Mr Ward as Agent-General. Such a slip in the Review is rather uncommon. Mr Skeet, Government Surveyor, is engaged cutting up the waste land lying between the town and the Waiaua river, which, we understand, will be shortly put in the market probably on lease. Miss Stanford, has taken over the Ladies’ School, until recently conducted by Miss Roser at New Plymouth, and is prepared to receive boarders. She has engaged a competent stuff, and will be prepared to impart a high-class education to those entrusted to her care. Further particulars may be obtained on application to the Principal, care of R. L. Stanford, Esq., S.M. On Saturday the mortal remains of the late Mrs Mann were consigned to their last resting place in the Opunake cemetery. The cortege was a very large one, a large number of the friends of the deceased attending to pay their last mark of respect to deceased. The chief mourners were her three sons, Henry, Walter, and George, and her sons-in-law Messrs Williams and E. Edmunds, The Rev. A. W. H. Compton officiated at the grave in a very impressive manner. There were many beautiful floral wreaths covering the coffin. The attention of the public is directed to a special Christmas sale of drapery and clothing at the Melbourne Cash House, Opunake, by O. Cummins. The goods were ordered specially for the Christmas holidays. Heavy stock—Men’s, boys’ and youths’ Colonial made clothiug. The goods are marked at low prices to make a quick turn-over on the outlay. Inspection is invited for prices and quality at the Melbourne Cash House, Opunake. Dr S. P. Preston, Lynchburg, Ya., writes: “ I have been very much pleased with Sander & Sons Eucalypti Etract in the first stage of phthisis, using it as an inhalation from a brouchitis-cettle. I never used any other preparation than Sanders’, as I have found the others to be almost useless-”
