ELTHAM ROAD.

(Ouk own Correspondent.) In spite of the weather being dull and threatening there was a large attendance at the social dance given in the Eltham Head School on last Friday evening, when the “ light fantastic ” was indulged in till early hours, all present seeming to thoroughly enjoy themselves, and the utmost harmony and socialibility prevailed throughout. The room was very prettily decorated for the occasion, and presented a very pretty appearance. Songs were given during the evening, and the various performers received well-merited applause. Mr Warner sang “ The Cottage by the Sea ” ; Mr Wiley, “ Erin is my home ’’; Mr F. Collins, “ The kindness of that nice young girl”; Mr R. Warner, “ My lot took the Cake ” ; Mr J. Higgins, song. The music was supplied by Mr W. Watson, and was all that could be wished.

After payment of expenses a considerable sum will be handed over to the School Committee to go towards a fund for providing prizes for the children.
