Wellington Exhibition.
THE OPENING CEREMONY.
Wellington, November 18
The Exhibition., ou which so much of the" attention of the principal business men of the city has been concentrated for the past few weeks, waß opened this afternoon. The weather was not favorable, as about 2 o'clock a drizzling rain came on, but this ha 1 no perceptible effect on the attendance, steady streams of visitors pouring in continuously from the moment the doors opened. The arrangements were excellent. His Excellency was accompanied by Ladies Alice and Dorothy Boyle and suite, but Lady Glasgow was still too unwell to attend. The venture promises to be a success, and it is more than likely to return a handsome profit. November 19. Pick-pockets were at work in the crush at the opening of tiie Exhibition yesterday. One man, John Smith, lately from Christchurch, bang caught in the act. 5069 people pabsed into the Exhibition through the turnstiles yesterday, in which a largo number were admitted by private entrance.
