HIS sire, APREMONT (brother to the great French horse Chamant), was bred in France in 1878, being by Mortemer, dam Arancaria (dam of Rayon d'Oor), by Ambros—Pocahontas (dam of Stockwell, &c), by Glencoe ; Mortemer by Conquienge (son of FitzGladiator) —Comtesse, by Baron of Nuncio; Ambros, by Touchstone —Annette, by Priam. Apremont was imported into Canterbury in 1882 by Mr G. G. Stead. FANTASTIC'S dam, FANTASY, is by Traducer, out of Miss Flat, who was by the imported Peter Flat, out of the imported dam Mountain Nymph, who again was by Sir Tatton Sykes' Giselle, by Stockport. Miss Flat is the dam of a numerous family, the greatest of whom was the renowned Welcome Jack, one of the greatest racehorses ever bred in New Zealand. Terms: £2 10s. Groomage fee, 2s 6d. MELROSE is by TAIERI TOM (240 N.Z. Draught Horse Stud Book), out of FANNY FERN (893 N.Z. Draught Horse Stud Book). Taieri Tom was bred by the late Mr James Shand, Taieri, Otago, got by Sir Colin (imp). His dam Nancy was by Glasgow Geordie (imp); second dam Nancy was imported by Mr Valpy. Fanny Fern is by the late Mr J. Wall's Pride of Scotland (602 Scotch Stud Book and 81 N.Z. Draught Horse Stud Book); dam Fanny (809 N.Z. Draught Horse Stud Book), by Prince Charlie (626 Scotch Stud Book and 4 N.Z. Draught Horse Stud Book). Fanny Fern was shown at Rangiora in 1891, beating all comers. In 1892 was first at Rangiora, and first and champion at Christchurch. FANNY, dam of Fanny Fern, 1891, took first and champion for the best brood mare and two of her progeny, Fanny Fern and Cold Stream being the two shown with her. Bonny Breast Knot's sire is the great Young Banker (1354), bred by David Riddell, of Kilbowie, Scotland ; imported to New Zealand by the Hon. Matthew Holmes, of Oamaru. Bonny Breast Knot (209), dam Princess Royal (285), bred by Mr R. Matthews at Temuka. This famous brood mare was about as popular a mare as ever came into the show ring. She has taken prizes in the show rings at Christchurch, Timaru, and Oamaru. Bonny Breast Knot was bred by Mr R. Matthews, of Temuka; is a beautiful dark bay with black points, and stands 16 hands 3 inches in height, being 13 inches below the knee, and 31 inches around the arm, and is 7ft. lOin. in girth, with immense power. He is compacoly built, with plenty of hair and bone ; although his bone is very heavy, it is of the right, clean, flat kind, with, plenty of silky hair on his legs, growing in the right place. He stands on exceptionally good sound feet and legs, with plenty of action. Bonny Breast Knot took First Prize Timaru, Oamaru, and Dunedin as a three-year-old, and First and Champion in Timaru for 1891 and 1892. , First at Wnimate for two years. Took I First and Champion and Gold Medal at New Plymouth.
