Mr C. E. Bellrioger. who is a candidate for theTaranaki constituency, will address meetings of the electors as follows: —Monday, 12th, Pungarehu; Tuesday, 13th, Opunake; Wednesday, 14th, Warea; Thursday, 15th Bahotu; Friday, 16, Oaonui.

Mr A. Wallis notifies that he has commenced business in Opunake as a boot and shoe maker. For the present he is at Bitson's, corner of Layard Street. He has a large experience in the trade, having been for 18 years with Messrs Toomer Bros, of Ghristchurch.

On Monday at the Taranaki County Council Mr Horrocks asked that a return be •btained of all the creameries and factories in the county, with the number of vehicles that attended there every day ; and also the number of vehicles with milk cans that went through the toll-gates on any given morning. This, the mover said, would give the ratepayers something to go upon when dealing with the question of toll-gates or wheel tax. Speaking roughly, he considered there were 500 vehicles so used, and not three per cent went through the gates.

On Tuesday evening, at a meeting of the Brass Band, the Hon Secretary laid a statement of the result of the late entertainment before the members. The gross proceeds were £lO 10s, and after payment of expenses it will result in a net addition to the funds of about £8 10s, which must be considered very satisfactory. The band has decided to purchase a new euphonium. The Band is fortunate in getting a new acquisition in Mr Hall, wheel-wright, who has come to reside here. He is an exceptionally good clarionet player, and has been a member of different bands in other parts" of New Zealand, Weather permitting the band will perform on Sunday afternoon at the redoubt at 3. 30 p.m., and on Tuesday evening will play oat in the town.
