OAONUI.

(Our Own Correspondent.) A meeting of the School Committee was held on Tuesday evening last, when there were present: —Messrs Gane (chairman), V. Harrison, Lang- g ton, and Pole. The usual minutes i£ were read and adopted, and accounts amountiug to £5 18s 4d passedfor payment. Mr Langton was authorised to get the gorse hedge round_ school grounds trimmed at a cost of sixpence per chain. The Chairman was also authorised to procure locks for one door and teacher's drawer, and to effect some repairs to roof spouting. It was decided to effect some repairs to the swing pole, and to add two additional ropes to same. The Inspector of Schools, Mr Spencer, made his annual examination of the Oaonui School on Tuesday. The results are not to hand, of course, but I understand he expressed himself as well satisfied. The children see'mel to have been quite taken with his pleasing manner. The Co-operative Dairy Company take possession of their newly-ac-quired property on Tuesday, 15th. The few settlers who have declined to become shareholders in the cooperative dairy have been holdicg meetings in Bahotu recently with a view to induce the Crown Company to establish a new factory upon Mr O'Sullivan's property. Perhaps it will be wise on my part not to . state the whole of the facts in connection with the movement, or I may again be charged with wrong-doing by not stating a sufficiency of facts to be • intelligible.
