Egmont Farmers' Union (Limited) Report. Hawera, May 7. There was a good entry of cattle at Manaia on Tuesday, the sth inst., we being obliged to hold our sale on that day instead of Wednesday owing to the Hawera B.C. Winter Meeting. The attendance was fair and bidding fjr large cattle was good, but other lines did did not receive much attention. Fat and forward stock are in better demand, and we anticipate keen enquiry. We quote :—Forward bullocks, £4 5s to £4 12s 6d; fat heifers, £8 to £8 9s ; yearlings, £1 4s to £l3s 6d; 15 to 20-month, £2 to £2 ss. Messrs F. R. Jackson and Co.'s. Stock Report. Wanganui, May 6. Bidding at all the sales was animated, and we succeeded in clearing the yards at Wanganui, and also at Waverley with the exception of the line of 2-tooth ewes, also Mr P. Bourke's sale at Whenuakura. Cattle are in better demand, and sheep maintain late rates. Sound sheep sell readily, but others are difficult to quit. Pigs were in fair supply at St. Hill Street, and were in better demand. We quote : Cattle. —At Mr Bourke's—Cows, £2 Is ; weaners. 22s ; handfed heifers, 81s 6d to 48s 6d ; steers, £2 Is. At Waverley—Yearlings, 22s 6d to 88s ; milch cows, £5 53 ; steers, £4 9s. At Wanganui—Fat cows, £3 to £4 lis ; 18-month mixed £2 4s ; steers, £2 5s ; to £3 lis'; milch "cows, £2 15s to £5 ss.

Sheep—At Bourke'e—Wethers, 8s 4d ; ewes, 4s 7d; ewes, in lambs, 8s W; culls, 2s 7d. At Waverley— Empty ewes, 6s 6d; 2 tooth ewes, in lamb, 8s 8d; shorn lambs, 4s 9d to 58 Id. At Wanganui—Wethers, 9s Id; old ewes in lamb, 33 ; fat ewes, 8s 6d to 9s 6d; culHambs, 2s 61.. Pigs.—Baconers, 15s to 88s; porkers, lis 8d to 16s 6d; small pigs, 2s to 4s 9d.

At Rahotu, on Tuesday, the yards were well filled, and there was a fair attendance. Bidding, however, was quiet ~ throughout, and prices offered were in most cases below below vendors' reserves. After the sale, however, a fair amount of business was done, and a good many lines changed hands. Weak calves made 2s to 5s 6d ; 12 to 15-month mixed, £1 103 6d ; 3-year do., £3 2s 6d to £3 15s ; springing heifers, £3 9s to £3 12s 6d ; fresh condition cows, £2 19s ; cows in calf, £2 17s.
