The first day's racing of the Egmont Racing Club's Winter Meeting was held on Wednesday. The attendance was not so large as at previous winter meetings, due, no doubt, to the unfavorable weather. Mr Baird's starting machine was used, and gave satisfaction. Messrs Neylon and Spriggins worked the totalisator, and seven bookmakers' licenses were taken out.
