Messrs F. R. Jackson and Co.’s. Stock Report. Johnsonville, April 28. The beef entered for the market was from middling to prime. Some very good bullocks were penned. The bidding was spirited both for cattle and sheep. A few pens of really wellstyed grain-fed pigs sold at full values grass-fed pigs were dull of sale, and young pigs were bard to quit. We had a fair market for grass-fed pigs. Cattle. —Best bullocks, £7 10s to £8 5s ; others, £6 5s to £7 5s small bullocks, £5 10s to £6 ; equal to 16s the lOOlbs. Sheep.—No fat wethers came forward ; heavy ewes, 9s 4d; store wethers, 7s 7d ; ewes, 4s 8d ; lambs, 8s 4d to 5s Id. Pigs.—Grain-fed baconers, 27s to 84s; good stores, 12s to 16s ; suckers, Is 6d to Is 9d, Wanganui, April 22. We had a good muster of cattle at our Waverley sale on Monday, and the sheep pens were comfortably filled. Cattle were dull under the hammer, but we succeeded in disposing of the greater part at quotations. We also cleared all the sheep but one pen. At St. Hill Street yesterday very few cattle came forward, but sheep were largely in excess of the number advertised. The bidding for sheep was brisk, and fully 6d per head on late values were obtained. Pigs were in small numbers, but there was no demand. We quote : Cattle.—At Waverley.—Steers, £2' 4s to £8 12s 6d ; empty heifers, £2 10s to £3 ; springing heifers, £8 ; fat cows, £8 to £4 ; yearlings, 85s to 38s ; milch cows, £2 9s to £slos ; weaners, 21s to 28s ; cows and calves, £2 16s ; At Wanganui.—Fat cows, £4 ; milch cows, £2 Is to £4 18s ; cows in calf, £2 Is 6d.

Sheep.—At Waverley : Fat wethers, 9s 9d ; ewes, 2s to 3s 6d ; lambs, 2s lid to 8s 4d ; store wethers, 5s 7d to 7s 6d. At Wanganui—Wethers, 8s Id to 8s 4d ; fat ewes, 7s lid to 9s ; lambs, 8s 8d to 4s 7d ; empty ewes, 5s 6d to 7s.

Bgmont Farmers’ Union (Limited) Report. Haweka, April 28. Owing to court business at New Plymouth last Thursday our monthly sale at Okaiawa bad to be put off. We held our sale at Manaia, on Wednesday, the 22ud inst., a fair muster of stock coming forward though not as many as were advertised. Bidding was certainly brisker for store cattle and in these we did well both at the sale and privately. We quote : Fat cows and heifers, £3 7a to £3 18s , cows, £2 10s to £2 16s 6d ; weaners, 11s to 13s.

Mr Newton King’s Weekly Report.

New Plymouth, April 23. Cattle.—At Stony River, on Wednesday, the yards were very full, and there was a good attendance. Bidding was fairly brisk, and most lines were sold either at the hammer or afterwards at about ruling rates. Calves made 5s to 12s 6d ; good do., 15s to 17s 6d ; 18 to 20-month heifers, 38s ; 18-month mixed, 86s ; store cows, 17s 6d to £2; springers, £8 to £4 2s 6d ; bulls, 12s 6d to 85s ; shorn lambs, 4s Bd.

Auckland, April 22. Horses : There is a fair demand for heavy and medium draughts of a good stamp. We quote : —Heavy draughts from £l2 to £25 ; medium, £8 17s 6d to £l4 10s ; light harness, £4 15s to £lB 10s ; hacks, £4 to £9 15s ; weeds, 15s to 80s.

Cattle : The demand has been good and competition keen. Ox beef sold at from 20s to £1 Is 1001 b, and in a few eases, some small, well-fatted cattle reached £1 2s ; fat oxen, sold at from £6 10s to £9 12s 6d ; fat cows, £4 to £7 2s 6d ; dairy cows, from £3 16s to £7.

Sheep were again plentiful at Newmarket on Tuesday, and showed an increase on last week’s prices. Wethers sold at from 10s to 14s 9d ; ewes, 8s to 12s ; lambs, 4s 6d to 10s 9d: store lambs, 3s to 8s 6d; pigs, very few yarded, sold at from 16s to £2 4s.

Messrs Nolan, Tonks and Co.’s Stock Report.

On Tuesday, at Eltham, there was a fair muster of cattle. Bidding was good, and nearly all lines were cleared.

At Bawera, on Thursday, we had a large entry. Prices of cattle were about ou a par with late rates, but there was a noticeable rise in sheep, especially store wethers of a good class. We quote ; At Eltham—Calves, 12s 8d to 17s 6d ; yearlings, mixed, 28s to 25s ; 15 to 18-month steers, £2 to £2 6s ; store cows, £2 to £2 5s ; forward cows, £2 12s 6d to £B.

At Hawera. —Weaners, 17s 6d; yearling steers, 27s 6d to 80s ; 2-year steers, £2 14s to £2 16s; steers, £3 to £8 8s; 2£ to 8-year steers, £8 7s 6d to £8 12s 6d; 8 year bullocks, £4 5s ; 2-year heifers, 87s to £2 2s ; springers, £8 to £3 10a ; 8-year quiet heifers, in calf, £2 15s ; fat and forward cows, £8 2s to £8 ss; store cows, £1 19s to £2 ss; fat cows, £3 10s 6d. Sheep—Fat ewes, 7s 4d; f.m. ewes, culls, 2s to 3s 2d; f.f.m. ewes, 4s 8d to 4s 6d; forward Lincoln wethers, 8s to 8s 8d ; store wethers, 7s to 7s 9d.
