Land Board.
The Land Board met on Monday, Present—The Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr Strauchon), Messrs Kelly, Stock, Heslop and Roy. The following were allowed to capitalise and acquire the freehold of D.P. land : J. and N. Simpson, Section 7, Block 9, Cape; C. J. Hill, Sections 79 and 81, Block 10 Kaupokonui. Miss Bessie G. George was allowed to acquire freehold of P.L. Section 1, Block 12, Mimi. J. Donovan was allowed to acquire freehold of D.P. Section 89, Block 14, Kaupokonui. Several mortgages were passed. A list of names of selectors two payments in arrear' was laid on the table. It was decided to call the attention of defaulters that their sections are liable to forfeiture. The Surveyor-General intimated that the Public Works Department had no objection to the railway reserve through the Ngaire block being leased provided that it is on condition that the lease can be terminated any time on the land being required by the Government. It was decided to offer leases of reserves at auction. The Manganui Road Board submitted proposals for expenditure of thirds accrued to September 30th last, of £ll7 Is 2d. M. M. O’Connell requested the thirds from Section 55, Manganui, be spent on cuttings 4 and 5, Monmouth Road. The expenditure was approved, with the alteration requested by Mr O’Connell. The Hawera County Council’s »chedule of £992 8s lOd w r as passed. The proposal of the Moa Road Board to expend £632 5s 2d was again considered, together with the report of the Hanger on the same, and the Bristol—York Road petitions. The Ranger’s report was adopted, and the Road Board will be instructed to carry it out; also that the other proposals recommended by the Ranger be approved.—Herald.
