OAONUI.
(Our Own Correspondent.)
The following is the report of the Inspector, Mr W. E. Spencer, on the recent examination of our school: — " The results of the examination are very unsatisfactory. Of 17 in standards only five have gained promotion after more than a year's work. The changes in the teachers have militated against good work, but the want of success in the examination is due also to the parents keeping their children from school, and I must say that in some cases there seems to have been culpable disregard for the best interests of the children. Out of the 17 in standards, no less than four or over 23 per cent were absent from examination. Mr Allan has made considerable progress in the work since he came, and a marked improvement is noticeable. In the class subjects he was unable to cover the whole of the ground. The order aud discipline were excellent.
