Tom Board.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Monday, September 9th. Present:—Messrs G. W. Rogers (chairman), D. McGregor, J. Stewart, H. H. Seccombe, and A. O'Brien. Minutes of ivu.us meeting read and confirmed. Mr F. McGuire, M.H.R., wrote, asking if the Board favored the Egmont Forest Reserve being declared a National Park. Resolved, That this Board considers it desirable that steps should be taken to have it declared a National Park. [O'Brien-McGregor.] The Board's solicitor, gave it as his opinion that no part of a Cemetery Reserve was liable to be rated. The Works Committee reported on necessary works, and it was resolved, That specifications be prepared for King Street, Longfellow Road, footpath on Allison Street, and channelling in Main Street. The available balance was £lO5 12s sd. The following accounts were passed for payment:—Ebbett and Duffill, £l6 2s 7s ; J. R. Morrison, £4 15s lis ; Newman Bros, lis 3d; Rates, £1 2s lid ; W. Pettigrew, 8s 6d ; C. Goosey, 10s Bd. DOMAIN BOARD. Same members present. Mr H. H. Seccombe, chairman. Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed. Mr Twomey wrote, making an offer to lease the Government paddock, and offering to keep the cricket pitch available if his offer was accepted. Mr McGregor moved, and Mr Rogers seconded, That the lease of it for three years be put up to public auction. Mr Stewart moved, as an amendment, seconded by Mr O'Brien, That Mr Twomey's offer be accepted, provided the road and crescent areas are included. The amendment was lost and the motion carried. Resolved, That a self-shutting gate be erected at the entrance to the domain. It was reported that sheep had been interfering with the newly-planted trees in the domain. Resolved, That the ranger be instructed to impound any sheep tiespassing, and that trespass rates be charged. [Rogers-McGregor.] Board adjourned.
